So the Neoplatonists have this thing called principle of plentitude, which seemed to defy Occam’s razor, because it’s like they were looking at a spectrum of structure, and they were going, oh, it’s this thing right here, and then it’s this thing right here, and then it’s this thing right here. But in retrospect, it matches what we call a spectrum, but we don’t necessarily believe that there’s necessarily a discrete point on the spectrum. So it’s like, oh, they haven’t really found all the points, except now we know that there’s actually no such thing. Sure, but we have some evidence that there’s actually no such thing as a perfectly continuous spectrum, but rather a spectrum of quanta, because I think we found in the universe that everything gets quantized at a certain level, except maybe gravity, but we are working on that. It’s possible that gravity actually is quantized as well. So under the hypothesis that everything is quantized, it actually is not an infinite spectrum. It’s just step one, step two, step three, step four, step five.
